Some of these databases have then been used as the templates for developing larger MS SQL web based applications. The advantage of this is you are able to quickly and cheaply develop a system which gives the users something to evaluate before management commits to the development. Functionality and structure of the system can be discussed and demonstrated before spending begins. In some cases the MS Access database is used for some reporting functions while the vast majority of the application runs in php or dot net.

MS Access as a Reporting Tool 
MS Access is by far the most flexible reporting solution if your organisation needs to generate reports from larger database infrastructure. OPD Management has interfaced and written reports linking MS Access to MYSQL, MSSQL and MYOB data tables.
